時 間：5時45～7時20分
行 程：ホテル→御苑内 九条池→松林→林内→宗像神社前付近→ホテル

様 子：天気は良く晴れていて、ホテルから御苑に到着する頃には太陽が昇って、野鳥の声が少し聞こえ始めていました。早速、バードウオッチングを開始。まずは、耳を澄まして聞こえ始めた鳥を紹介しました。シジュウカラ、エナガ、カワラヒワが聞かれました。池に移動して見渡したけれども、上空をカルガモが通過したぐらいでした。再び、松林や樹林帯を歩き始めるとシジュウカラのファミリーが見られ、親鳥が雛に給餌するシーンが見られました。私たちの前に時々、親鳥が地上に餌を探しに来ることもありました。時々、砂利場を見ると、なぜか、犬の散歩しているグループのそばにアオサギ2羽が待機していました。どうやら、ドッグフードをもらっているようでした。また、低い石柱の上に一瞬でしたが、ハクセキレイを確認する事ができました。
The weather was clear and sunny, and by the time we arrived at the garden from our hotel, the sun had risen and we could begin to hear the sounds of wild birds. Start bird watching right away. First, I listened closely and introduced the birds that I had begun to hear. Great tits, long-tailed tits, and stonefinch were heard. I moved to the pond and looked around, but all I could see was a spot-billed duck passing overhead. As we started walking through the pine forest and forest area again, we saw a family of great tits, and we saw a parent bird feeding its young. Sometimes the parent birds would come to the ground to forage for food in front of us. Every now and then, I would look at the gravel pit and for some reason, two gray herons would be waiting next to a group of dogs walking. It looked like he was getting dog food. Also, I was able to see a white wagtail for a brief moment on top of a low stone pillar.

その後、林内では3回ほど、アオバトの囀りが聞かれたり、ヤマガラのファミリーや地上でエサを探すキジバト、遠くでイカルの声を聞き終えて御苑でのバードウオッチングを終了しました。
主に解説した内容は何が囀っているのかを英名で紹介、その鳥に関しては御苑で繁殖しているのか、オスなのかメスなのか、分布はどうかなど図鑑を利用しながら解説させて頂きました。
